Hey! I’m Peter Smallwood and I’m standing to be President of the National Union of Students.  I guess I should really tell you a little bit about me and why I want to be your President.

So I’ve been on a pretty amazing journey in the Student movement that has shaped, changed and influenced both me and my politics.  I’m told the best kept secret in the whole of this election is that I’m a member of the Conservative Party.  I’m not going to hide that or be ashamed of it, but it’s my experience as both a student and as an “outsider” to the NUS that has driven me to stand.

I’m 23 and very proud to be a sabbatical officer at the Union of Brunel Students.  I work with a pretty amazing team of sabbatical officers – Promise, James and Gary. I’m always inspired by their hard work and dedication and commitment to empowering our members.

·         I’m a Scout Leader and have been in Scouting since I was 5

·         I have a Fulham Football Club season ticket

·         I love watching; The West Wing, Gavin and Stacey, The Vicar of Dibley and Boston Legal

·         I love a good Curry

·         Neither Nick Clegg or David Cameron are my Dad
